LITA ROSARIO
LITA ROSARIO is the principal of WYZ Girl Entertainment Consulting, LLC a boutique entertainment and intellectual property law and consulting firm in Washington DC. Rosario has served as the Chair of the DC Bar’s Arts, Entertainment, Media and Sports Law Section. She also serves on the Grammy Board of Governors for the Washington DC Chapter of the Recording Academy. She is admitted to the Bars in New York, Massachusetts and the District of Columbia, the Southern District of New York, the District Court for the District of Columbia, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States of America. In 2013, Rosario received the Entertainment Lawyer of the Year Award from the National Bar Association’s Entertainment Law Section. The Award was largely due to Rosario’s success in securing the ownership rights for Afrika Bambaataa & Soul Sonic Force for arguably the most sampled song in Hip Hop, “Planet Rock,” and all songs that sampled Planet Rock!
Rosario also represents members of Parliament Funkadelic, including George Clinton and Garry Shider (Diaper Man), in connection with matters to regain ownership of their music catalogs including the iconic hits records “Atomic Dog,” and “ One Nation Under A Grove.” She also represents the estate of a founder of KC and the Sunshine Band, Ronald Louis Smith. Rosario started her career as an entertainment lawyer as the co-founder and owner of University Music Entertainment a music production company that produced multi-platinum recording artist DRU Hill, Mya and ultimately Sisqo. Rosario went on to represent such artists as Missy Elliot, and is responsible for Missy owning her copyrights, Crystal Waters, Tank, Robin S, Peaches & Herb, Mr. Cheeks (The Lost Boyz), and numerous other multi-platinum songwriters and producers.
