Jemar Daniel is a media and transactional attorney at Dark Matter LLP. His practice spans First Amendment, advertising, intellectual property, and contract law, with a focus on production legal, branded content, live events, and emerging issues in AI and digital media. He advises clients on a broad range of matters including right of publicity, defamation, pre-litigation strategy, production agreements, integrated branded content, and AI content creation.

His clients represent a cross-section of players across traditional and new media, advertising, the creative industries, and tech and AI content creation.

Prior to joining Dark Matter, Jemar served as Vice President and Senior Counsel at Paramount Global, where he was co-lead of the Content Legal Team. In that role, he counseled scripted, unscripted, digital, news, podcast, and ad-sales business units on pre-production legal matters and supported numerous transactions and creative initiatives across the company’s portfolio, including live events and major tentpole award shows. He also partnered with cross-functional law department teams to develop legal guidelines for integrated marketing units producing branded content for digital platforms.

Before Paramount Global, Jemar was a member of BET Networks’ legal team from 2010 to 2014, where he supported many of the same business and legal affairs functions while also drafting, and negotiating agreements related to iconic television programs, award shows, and news programming.

Jemar earned his J.D. from American University’s Washington College of Law and is admitted to practice in New York. He is a graduate of McDaniel College and previously served as a visiting member of its Board of Trustees. He is a Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellow and a recipient of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association’s (MCCA) Rising Star Award (2024). He is a frequent speaker on media law and production legal matters.
